(Donations still being accepted until June!) Support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

This event has passed, but you’ve already donated, right?? (Donations still being collected until June!)

Some close friends of mine are hosting a fundraiser to support the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. ( I’m pretty thorough when it comes to choosing how to spend my money, as I know you are, so I checked on the L&L Society’s efficiency. Turns out 85%, possibly more, goes directly to patient care and research.  I was happy with what I found.)

I’d like to support the event.  And I hope you’ll help. Here’s how:

This Saturday, April 2nd head over to the The Baseball Tavern near Fenway from 8pm and 2am.  The event will be held in the lower level down the stairs. Party, drink $3 Bud drafts and $10 pitchers, and enter the raffle to win some prizes, including some really great Red Sox tickets (they’ve also got some good prizes, gift certificates, etc.).

There will be a $10 minimum donation cover charge which, along with raffle ticket sales, goes directly to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  Raffle tickets will be 3 for $5 and 8 for $10.  Donation cover and raffle tickets are cash only.  If you have already donated to their fundraising efforts, the $10 donation cover will be waived. (And you’ve already donated, right??)

Here’s a message from the team:

We’re both running all 26.2 miles of the San Diego Rock N’ Roll Marathon on June 5th, and we are doing it to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  We are running this marathon in honor of the 823,000 Americans who are currently battling blood cancers, including the 7-month-old son of one of our teammates who was recently diagnosed with lymphoma.  We have each committed to raising at least $2,900 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, which goes to cancer research grants and patient support.

Come whenever and stay as long as you want!  If you win a raffle prize, you will be contacted by either phone or email if you are no longer at the party.  Please come out and support me in my very first marathon and support my fundraising efforts to prevent leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin s disease, and myeloma from taking anymore lives.

They are trying to get a sense of numbers, so email me or leave a comment if you’d like, and I’ll pass numbers along to them.  (But, by all means, feel free to just show up.)

Bring some friends.  And have a good time.
